Edward Enninful Replaces Alex White At W Magazine

Fashion director of W magazine, Alex White, stepped down yesterday after 16 years to "focus on her own projects".

Replacing her will be Edward Enninful,  longtime contributing stylist of Vogue magazine, fashion-editor at I-D magazine, contributor of Town & Country magazine, and popular British stylist.

White denies rumors that she is stepping down because Stefano Tonchi became the new Editor-in-chief at W magazine in March 2010, a position she was supposedly lobbying for.  She even reportedly asked Karl Lagerfeld himself to write a letter in her favor to the company chairman.  Tonchi and White deny any disputes and White's reasoning may be that she felt creatively inhibited at the magazine.

There are even more rumors flying that White wants to begin her own magazine! Tonchi said, "She's thinking very much about her own brand - the Alex White brand - and at a certain point that is no longer what W is about."

White follows Tonchi's statement saying, "Totally on the same page.  I helped with getting over the hump.  Now it's time for me to continue my freelance and explore the other things I'm working on," as told to WWD.  Apparently this supposed new magazine may even be online, I find that intriguing.  Would you be interested in reading that?
