Fashion Week: Spring 2011

Alexander Wang
No black for Alexander Wang this coming spring!  Wang said, "I was looking for something optimistic, something pure."  The show started out with all white looks then turned into a few mint green, ivory, and pale rose pieces.  The looks were deconstructed and included slip dresses, parachute pants, trench coats, carpenter jackets, motorcycle jackets, kimono jackets, vests, apron dresses, and criss-crossed coverall straps on the backs of dresses.  Organzas and satins were the fabric of choice and all the looks flowed beautifully on the models.  Here are some of my favorite looks.
This deconstructed and casual cool look was my favorite.
Draped v-neck, long vest, and flowing white pants.  Notice the white paint in all the models hair!
A sheer mint green sweater and light shorts
Derek Lam
Minimal American sportswear was the look at the Derek Lam Spring 2011 show.  Lam was inspired by West Coast minimalist art which led to stripped-down but flattering silhouettes with a few splashes of color here and there.
The popular head-to-toe denim look.  Flared jeans and a simple frill on the shirt.
Clean cut mini khaki trench dress
Simple silk maxi dress
