Straight Hair Trend

Fall Hair Trend: Super Straight
After probably damaging your hair all summer with the hot sun and chlorine the last thing you want to do for fall is begin to flatiron your hair.  However, beauty calls, and that is what showed up on a lot of runways this fall.  There are ways to keep your hair hydrated (products after runway pictures) and healthy but still look trendy.  Here are some designers that featured super straight hair on their runways for Fall 2010.

Faux Real?

I'm sure all of my fashionistas have picked up on the fur (faux and real) trend for this upcoming fall.  Fur was spotted on practically every fall runway in an array of styles and forms.  There were hooded fur jackets (Thakoon, Elie Tahari) , fur vests (J.Mendel, Versace, Anna Sui) , fur peacoats (Burberry),  pattchworked coats (Fendi and Acne), bear coats (also at Burberry Prorsum)  dip-dyed coats (Zac Posen) , leopard vests (Dries Van Noten), bright fur (Giorgio Armani), fur trousers (Chanel)  and the list goes on!  Fur was also on accessories such as handbags (Michael Kors, Dennis Basso), on shoes (Chanel), as a scarf (J.Mendel, Carolina Herrera), hats (Oscar de la Renta, Isaac Mizrahi)

Why designers are using more fur than ever before during a recession where not all that many people are buying luxurious items is unknown, but what's good about it is that through the reverse-trickle effect of fashion, faux fur is becoming more popular and certainly trendy.  (Designer Stella McCartney used faux fur in her collection).

Here are some less high-end designers who used FAUX fur.

The boots from Dsquared2 Fall 2010 collection
remind me of the Alexander McQueen Armadillos, but these are called Spine Heels, pretty cool.  The one in the bottom left is my favorite because there is not much going on but the spine so it pops.

Here are some pieces from Dsquared2's Resort 2011 collection
Simple knee-length navy coat with high orange sandals
Smock dress paired with brown clogs
Bright teal blazer (I'm absolutely in love with it) and then classically paired down with khaki shorts, brown leather belt, a white oxford, and strappy brown sandals, and big shades
A bejeweled champagne and ivory colored mini dress with delicate sandals

Leopard jacket and flared pants
Low-cut white blouse and silk scarf belt
Patterned blazer and dress with booties
Knee socks, patterned dress, and silk head scarf

Tucker also came out with a mini movie inspired by Marie Antoinette and Versailles.  It was filled with champagne and pastries and filmed in an old mansion.

Fashion Updates!

Hermès is launching a collaboration of their infamous silk scarves with the Paris boutique Colette.  The collection is called J’Aime Mon Carré (I love my scarf) and features an array of brightly colored and contemporary scarves.  They will be available from September 27- October 16.  Photographer Matt Irwin will travel to New York, Paris, London, and Tokyo to document how and by whom the scarves are worn in hopes of making a book about it.

Pieces from Miu Miu Resort 2011 Collection.  Designer Miuccia Prada described the collection as "fun, sensual, insolent" and all of that was seen through the usage of neon colors, fruity prints, lingerie inspired shapes and and fabrics such as silk de chine, satin, and sable, and funky, girly accessories.  The models' bright makeup and permed hair only added to the spunk of the collection.  I loved it!
Mismatching prints and flared pants
Polka-dotted
Sneaker wedges, ladylike handbag, printed scarf, layers of bracelets added lots to this simple 1940's style suit.

Just thought this was a very cool tribute to Andy Warhol by  Dom Pérignon.  The champagne house commissioned the design laboratory from Central Saint Martin School of Art & Design to pay homage to Warhol with the design of three bottles inspired by a Warhol-esque style of using an unconventional representation of icons and the playful usage of colors.
