Kaleidoscope prints that were inspired by things such as blown glass, Givenchy perfume bottles and other lavish objects has been translated and put on the runway by Mary Katrantzou. Her designs consist of fun sheaths and ruffled frocks covered in psychedelic prints. Katrantzou was only two years into the fashion industry when people began to notice her incredible designs. Even before her first runway show, Colette, a store in Paris, ordered her clothes and she had to rush and recruit people quickly to have all the items sent over. Since then, her designs have become internationally popular and she has been recognized at the London Fashion Awards. Born in Athens, Greece, she left for Rhode Island School of Design to study architecture, then headed to Central St. Martins College and later, London's Centre for Fashion Enterprise where she received her BA in textile design and MA in fashion textiles.
For her Spring 2010 ready-to-wear collection she was inspired by the spiraling of colors in artisanal blown glass.
