The nautical trend, one that happily comes back every few years or so, is back for this spring! The trend first began in 1846 when Queen Victoria dressed her son, Prince Albert, up in a sailor suit to wear aboard the Royal Yacht. Designers first embraced the trend in 1981 when Vivienne Westwood displayed her pirate collection which finally put her into the world of high fashion. So think crisp, clean lines, gold buttons, anchor necklaces, rope bracelets, or navy and white clutches. Keep the nautical trend to a minimum, you want to avoid looking like Popeye the sailor. Today's splurge is this metal and resin regatta bracelet for $1,625
So Who Wore What Best?
Rachel McAdams looked stunning at the Berlin premiere of Sherlock Holmes this week. She wore a one-shouldered teal asymmetrical gown by Alberta Ferretti with a cinched waist and red lipstick. Very old Hollywood glamour.
Mila Kunis looked beautiful at The Book of Eli premiere this week. Her one-shouldered dress was from Vera Wang's 2010 ready-to-wear Spring collection. The draping was amazing and the sheer black fabric at the bottom pulled the whole look together.
