Marni Fall 2011 Review

Marni Fall 2011 Collection
Luxe fabrics and prints galore took over at the Marni Fall 2011 showcased in Milan this past week. Designer Consuelo Castiglioni's mantra was "severe elegance."  Inspiration for this collection came from the elegance of contemporary dancer Martha Graham and from modern architecture.  Castiglioni said, "I want to go back to the start, with simplicity and discipline."  That was demonstrated through long clean lines paired with fluidity and femininity that all showed a more streamlined sensibility than the usual Marni pieces.
A printed geometrically structured gray dress paired with a skinny black belt, scrunched black leather gloves, a cream colored handbag, and chunky pumps with a bow tie
A printed short sleeve, double-breasted green blazer paired with loose printed white pants and accessorized with big red earrings and chunky shoes
 Pop of pink
Conservative ankle-length wool dirndl skirt contrasts with the cropped wool top and has a fun element with a geometric bangle and pink pumps
A funky printed pantsuit
A beautifully luxe draped black belted dress layered on top of loose black pants and accessorized with a brown clutch with a peach scarf
A flowy printed dress in violet and olive green that hits at the knee and is paired with platform pumps with an ankle strap
A very structured leather top with a high collar worn with a draped black skirt, black gloves, and wooden black platform pumps with an ankle strap
A cream colored coat with pearl embellishments and fringe on the bottom is worn over a matching dress and paired with brown and black leather gloves and platform sandals
